The bulwark protecting workers and the People from corporate greed throughout American history has been the labor union. It gave us fair wages and weekends, all while evening up the bargaining power for workers for generations. Today, it's under siege from all sides. One of the most successful attacks is the cleverly branded law known as "right to work". In actuality, they are "bankrupt the unions" laws meant to strip them of their ability to fight back. Another is the attack on the prevailing wage, a law meant to ensure folks working on construction projects for the state receive fair wages, by greedy contractors. In an era of endless corporate and Wall Street power, unions are more important now than ever. We can bring unions back to their prior glory. Step one: repeal "right to work" and protect the “prevailing wage”.
